Lynda Carter

 Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter.Her father is of English and Scots-Irish ancestry as is her mother. Her father, whose family hailed from Mexico and is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. She has one brother, Vincent and a sister named Pamela. Carter was a public TV star when she made her debut on Lew King's Talent Show at age 5. Carter joined a band named Just Us in high school. The band used a marimba, conga drums an acoustic and stand-up basses. One girl from the group was also a guitarist. Lynda started singing at a local pizza place when she was 15. [8] She joined her cousins' group, The Relatives, when she turned 16. The drummer of the group was Gary Burghoff, an actor. The band performed at the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months; because Carter was under 21 , she had to pass through the kitchen.Carter was a student at Arizona State University. She was named "Most gifted" and decided to get into the world of music. Carter auditioned for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. The group then embarked on a tour with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance together was at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk entrance. Hotel staff and hotel guests had their cars parked in the underground parking garage meant that they performed for them. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit" performing shows in several of the state's casinos lounges that were located between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter decided to quit the Garfin Gathering for acting, and returned to Arizona in 1972.
