Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media, public speaker and Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a web site with video and an online blog analysing portrayals gender roles in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are depicted in pop culture. Aiming to break down the stereotypes of women that have been portrayed in popular culture, she is a vocal advocate for issues relating to the targeted harassment of women and the other marginalized groups of people in the online space. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in political thought and social theory at York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public presenter. Sarkeesian delivered speeches to the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. As a university student Sarkeesian was concerned about issues related to gender identity and women's rights in the early stages. Someone who hoped to launch a web-series that would examine the gender representation of video games, she was targeted by an internet-based campaign. It was not enough to stop her. It actually strengthened her commitment as a feminist and media critique. In recognition of the many accomplishments she's made to feministism, she's recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic who has won many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency which is an educational non-profit that examines the way women are depicted in media narratives.
