Lee Roy Selmon's life includes football scholarships, family involvement as well as community involvement. He was the youngest son from Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Semon. They raised him on their farm in Eufala. In football, he played with three of his brothers in Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded the opportunity to receive a scholarship in his third year in the year 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work during his college years. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing for the Buccaneers. 3 times he was selected All-Pro. Then he began his business career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993, he became the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
